Brief description of the material in the website
The website sites different branches of math. As for me I am looking topics  in Geometry particularly in the theorems of similar triangles.
Evaluation of the website
Strengths
It has nice figure, graphs and other visuals that makes the topic more  understable.
Weaknesses
I think there are data that is lacking like other properties of the topic. Maybe the content should be revised and add more accurate data or info.
Name of Evaluator

REFLECTION
Write your reflection on your experience.

  • As for me, it is easy to use online resources as long as the internet is not slow. And there were lot of things you can surf using online resources. It is not difficult and all you need is basic background in computer, encoding and also reading with comprehension is highly advised. And there  is also familiarization with buttons.

How did you find the task of surfing the net relevant in generating more information for your support materials to the topic?

  • The relevance is that the more you search and surf for your topic is that you will got lots of information and also there would be lots of additional knowledge as your mind will become global.

INSIGHTS
Imagine how schools located in communities without internet facilities cope with the need.

  • Schools located in far communities would be less fortunate for not having online resources compare to those in the city.

LEARNING ACTIVITY 6: Slide Presentations

LEARNING ACTIVITY 6: Slide Presentations
NAME OF FS STUDENT: RIA FEI D. BANGCONG
COURSE: BSEd-MATH
YEAR & SECTION: 3V
COOPERATING SCHOOL: CAMAMAN-AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
GRADE LEVEL OBSERVED: GRADE IV

Goal
At the end of this activity; I will be competent in developing and using material
(Slide presentation) which involve students in meaningful learning activities’.

Tasks
As a teacher, I am expected to create a student presentation of materials that enhance instructions.

Tools
Recall the slide presentation you made in you Ed Tech class. Give the important features of the slide by noting the following:

Title of Presentation: Theorems of Angles
Objectives:
  • To be able to understand and apply the theorems of angles
  • To be able to know the theorems related to angles
Subject matter: Geometry

MY ANALYSIS
Based on the slide presentation you have made, what are the features of a good slide presentation?
The features of a good slide presentation are the following:
  • Use layouts included in your software If possible the background would be plain and not very colorful.
  • Include photos/pictures in your slides if possible to be easily understood by the students.
  • Use one theme for the whole presentation. It would cause confusion having more themes.
  • The content is short yet concise and accurate and easily understood.
  • The font size should be visible.
  • And there should be six lines per slide and eleven syllables per line.

How do you describe your slide presentation in terms of its good features?
In terms of good features, I think I had applied many of it, like having one theme throughout the presentation, no bright colors in the background, so far the fonts are visible and readable and also the content is short yet full.
REFLECTION
What difficulties have you encountered in preparing the slide presentation?
The difficulty that I had encountered during the making is that I am unfamiliar with the software. I am not used of using Libre Office so I found it difficult. I think I need to be familiar with it and to other existing software where I could present my report so that I will be flexible enough to make it anywhere and anytime as long as there is a pc that can be used.

LEARNING ACTIVITY 5: Paper Works (Hand-Outs Use)

LEARNING ACTIVITY 5: Paper Works (Hand-Outs Use)

NAME OF FS STUDENT: Ria Fei D. Bangcong
COURSE: BSEd-MATH
YEAR & SECTION: 3V
COOPERATING SCHOOL: CAMAMAN-AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
GRADE LEVEL OBSERVED: GRADE 5

GOAL
At the end of this activity, you will gain competence in making instructional materials (hand-outs) appropriate to the learning content.

TOOLS
As you prepare your report about the teacher's hand-outs fill out the activity form below.
A HAND-OUT
Subject Matter: Mathematics (Geometry) Grade/Year Level: Third Year
Learning Objective:
To be able to know the theorems related to angles
To be able to understand and apply the theorems of angles
Content:

Theorem #1: All right angles are congruent.
Prove:
Given: ∠1 and ∠2 are right angles
m∠1=90 , m∠2=90 Def. Right Angles
m∠1=m∠2 Transitive Postulate
1=∠2 Def. congruent angles

Def: Complementary Angles are two angles whose measures add up to 90 degrees.

If ∠AOCis a right angle -- m∠1+m∠2= 90
1 is “complementry” with∠2. ∠2 is “complementry with”∠1.
1 is “the complement” with∠2. ∠2 is “the complement” with∠1.

Theorem #2: Complements of the same angle, or congruent angles, are congruent.

2 is complementary with∠1
3 is complementary with∠1
3 ≡∠1

Theorem #3: If the union of two adjacent angles is a right angle, the angles are complementary

If ∠ABC ia a right angle and ∠1+∠2≡∠ABC then ∠1 is compl. ∠2.

Learning Activities:
In case ∠A and ∠B are complementary, deterine m∠B for each.

Assessment Plan
Discussion: Use the Socratic method to elicit answers out of students as a means to assess their progress. Consider cold calling (randomly selecting participants) as opposed to waiting for volunteers to keep everyone engaged.

In the presentation, describe how the tool was used in a particular lesson/time.

References

MY ANALYSIS
Which feature of the hand-out is not effective?
I think the way it was presented or the format. For me, a hand-out is short but concise and accurate. It should be presented via chart, table or in bullets. But the way it was presented is that it is not even in bullets and it might confuse the students especially to those who are not familiar yet.
Which is measured by assessment plan? Is it product or process? Explain.

MY REFLECTION
Recall any difficulties encountered in making hand-outs? How did you overcome them?
To make a handout is not totally difficult as long as I have reliable sources or references and assistance from a computer. The only thing that took time and needed hard thinking is the conceptualization of the flow of the handout or the summary of it. I even decided to make a table to present it in tabular form but got confused instead in the end I decided to put it in bullets yet I forgot it too. So first I did was to make an outline of the content of my handout then I read several references and searched through the internet.

LEARNING ACTIVITY 4: Teaching Aids Bank

LEARNING ACTIVITY 4: Teaching Aids Bank

LEARNING ACTIVITY 4: Teaching Aids Bank
NAME OF FS STUDENT: Ria Fei D. Bangcong
COURSE: BSEd-MATH
CAMAMAN-AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
GRADE LEVEL OBSERVED: GRADE V
GOAL
At the end of this activity, I will be competent in preparing instructional materials appropriate to the learning content
TASK

Step 1: Choose a specific topic.
Step 2: Find the resources relevant to the topic that are available in the learning center.
Step 3: Develop a pool of teaching materials. (e.g. Flash cards, pictures, cut-outs etc.)
Step 4: Devise a box where to pool in your teaching aids.

MY OBSERVATION GUIDE
1. Describe the learning resources available in the learning center that are useful your topic.
2. Discuss the appropriateness of the learning resources to your target grade/year level.
3. Make a list of the materials that you can use.
4. List down also some materials that you can make, and use for your instruction (Whether transparency, slides, etc.)

LEARNING RESOURCE FOR MY CONTENT AREA
Topic : Geometry Grade Year Level : Third Year

Theorems related to angles
Learning Resource Tools:
  • Slides
  • Graphs
  • wooden protractor
  • chalk board
  • hand-outs

MY ANALYSIS
Why is there a need to make a survey of available materials before making our own materials?
It is important to make a survey of available materials before making our own materials
For us not to waste money, effort and time
To relate the topic to the material to be made as the teaching aid should be suitable to the learners in terms of their age, belief and etc.
To determine which material to be made is effective for the learners

MY REFLECTIONS
What materials did you like the most? Why?
  • The materials that I like most is the slides because I think it is easy to be made as long as you have a computer with a power point software and also you can add visuals like pictures and also audio.
What difficulties did you encounter in making the materials?
  • The difficulties that I encountered in making the material is that there is block out so I can’t make it directly as it needs electricity to run a computer.
How did you overcome it?
  • I overcome it by strengthening my patience and find another way to make it. I even used other tools or materials like manila papers and etc.
Make suggestions to the teachers in the preparation of teaching materials.
  • In preparing teaching materials, I suggest that they should use whatever materials is present and also they must have enough patience in doing it As possible the materials use should be inexpensive or even recycled.

COOPERATING SCHOOL: CAMAMAN-AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Observation Report
UTILIZATION OF TEACHING AIDS FORM
Grade/Year Level Of Class Observed: Grade 5
Date Of Observation: December 14, 2013
Subject Matter: Energy
Description Of Teaching Approach Used By The Teacher

I think the teaching approach that she used is the nontraditional way as she used portfolio and even let the students perform first on a task after discussing it or verifying the learning of the students.

TEACHING AIDS USED(ENUMERATE)
STRENGTHS
WEAKNESSES
COMMENTS ON THE APPROPRIATENESS OF THE TEACHING AIDS USED

Chalk and Board

It is easy to access as it is already present in each room.

Students usually found it common and they thought it would not be interesting.

It was properly and well used while discussing and writing important details.

hand outs

It is easy to access, handy and inexpensive.

Sometimes charts, tables and etc. need a detailed discussion in order for it to fully understood

It was given to the students during the activity as their source and I think it is just right. After the activity the teacher discuss the hand-out and made a verification of the lesson they had learned through the given hand-out

Activity sheets

Analysis:
What is the basis of the teacher in choosing such instructional material in the lesson?
  • The basis of the teacher in choosing such I.M is that she first relate to the topic, analyze it well and while understanding it fully she analyze if it is suitable for her students and also for the topic. And also the availability of the materials.

Do you observe any difficulty in the use of the instructional materials? How did she manage it?
  • I had observed that there is no difficulty in using such I.M as it is available well in terms of boredom , I had observed that the students are bored so what she did is that she inspired the students to the activity as there would be a follow-up quiz.

Was the use of the materials effective? Why? Why not?
  • I think the use of the materials were effective because the learning objective was achieved and also the class is not a mess or in trouble.

How did the learners respond to the teacher’s use of the visual aids?
  • Well I had observed that they are quite bored at first but teaching aids are just aid or another extended arm to help the teacher in handling the class as overall she managed the class to act attentively and later on they became engrossed to the teaching aid of the teacher as it is useful ib answering their activity.

Reflection

Imagine yourself as the teacher. What would you do or not do if you were to teach the same subject to the same group of the students?
If I were the teacher, I will have something that is more modernized like presenting a video clip and let them discuss in the class what they had learned after watching it. Or even make a game about the topic to challenge the students to cooperate and learn more.

Episode 2: Bulletin Board Displays

 Bulletin Board Displays

MY TARGET: At the end of this activity, you will be competent in appraising the effectiveness of display boards as learning resources.
Tools

7.Clarity of messages:
8.Photo documentation if any:

CAMAMANAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BULLETIN BOARD

OBSERVATON REPORT:
. There are 3 bulletins I found outside the classrooms. The first bulletin board which is the Information Board is located near the gateway where everyone who will pass could read the information on it. The second bulletin board is the KIddilets Bulletin Board which is located near the classrooms and the Computer Lab. The third one is located in the Faculty Office. All the three bulletins are displayed in places which the viewers can read it.
The displays are about some announcements, reminders and some sort of information that can be use everyday like in the second bulletin it displays about the Do’s and Don’ts in the computer lab which serve as the reminders in entering the lab, the other information also there is about some good sites that can be use in studying. The images and colors used are varied according to the viewers standard just like the Office bulletin, the target viewers there are the teachers which are professionals so the bulletin layout, the colors and images that are used are sort of formal suited to them. In the Kiddielets bulletin also, since the target viewers are the elementary students so the colors and images used are the colorful ones suited to the viewer’s interest.
The materials used in making the displays are some sort of printed materials and colored papers for the border, plywoods for its frame and a cork board .
As what I have observed, I don’t notice errors like misspelled words. Its just some of the words are too small to read. You need to be in front of it or half a meter away from it to be able to read the content and think all the information displayed are examine thoroughly, the use of words and others because the bulletin board is displayed in public and everyone can read it, so to avoid misunderstanding, the information and images displayed are chosen thoroughly. The messages are clear and easily understood.

An evaluation report of a bulletin board display

Location of the bulletin board display : In the classroom
Description of the bulletin board:  It is a bulletin board intended for the students

EVALUATION
 EVALUATION
 STRENGTHS
 WEAKNESSES
 Educational Content
The content of the bulletin board is about the Do’s and Don’ts inside the computer laboratory. There are also  websites about some online resources or handouts. And the informations are conveyed clearly.

Some of the content are not raleted to the purpose
 Image/color
It can attract the viewers  and highlight the main purposeof the bulletin board
sometimes the image and color are too colored and itt cannot be seen.
 Arrange of information
T he information are relevant  to the students and teachers they can refer their daily activities to the bulletin board.
Its time consuming if all the information are arrange properly if the time to put information in the bulletin board. are limited.
 Material use
The material strengthen the bulletin board and it  can be use in a long period of time.
If the materials used were easily broken the bulletin board cannot be use in a long period of time.

Recommendation or suggestion for improvement:
The bulletin  board  should be take good care always and the the information that are  not needed should be through away so that it can be useful for the entire year and the other information can put in the bulletin board.

MY ANALYSIS:
  • The intention of the board display:
To inform the students in their daily activities and for the teachers to know their daily schedules if there are activities.
  • Describe the board display design in terms of raising the target audience's interests.
Did the board display design reflect the likes/interests of its target audiences?
The board displays reflect the interest of the target viewers. The captions and the images are just right for the target viewers.
  • Use of language in making the target audience's understanding of the information,
Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand? Why? Why not?
The language used is clear and simple for the target audience to understand because the words used does not need a dictionary to understand it. It means the words used are the words we commonly used, simple and precise. The sentence construction are not figurative and also it uses phrases that can easily be understood and a picture explaining what message it is trying to convey.
What do you think was the purpose of the board display? Was it effective? Why? Why not?   The purpose of the board display is to convey a message, announcements and other important reminders to the target viewers to avoid future conflicts and also to minimize the time broadcasting to all yet not all can hear it and perhaps just take it for granted.  It will also remind then of some important events like PTA meeting and etc.

  • Did you have any experience in designing  or making a bulletin board ?Yes

  • Which skill do you already have? Are   there skills you think still need? yes

What suggestions can you make?
For me, in order for a bulletin board to be viewed according to its purpose, the board must provide information related to the target viewers, the colors used and images must vary according to the interest  of the viewers.

MY REFLECTIONS:  Reflect on how you can acquire and improve on these skills.

1.    Name at least five skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with effective board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
                                          i.    Five skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with effective board displays are:
  1. Which of the following skills you named in # 1 do you already have? Recall your past experiences in making board displays. How do you practice these skills?
  2. Which skills do you still need to develop/ what concrete steps will you take on how you can improve on or acquire these skills.
